As WorldPride NYC Commemorates the Reality of Stonewall 50, Artificial Intelligence Creates a Unique Audio-Visual Display of the World’s Sentiments on Pride.

 

For the month of June, NYC Pride welcomes WorldPride as it marks the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising and a half century of LGBTQI+ liberation. To celebrate this moment, The Ally Coalition have created an emotive community-driven sound and light experience featuring a soundscape by St Vincent, and generated by user messages. The experience is powered by Microsoft AI technology that explores powerful feelings of hope, anger, joy and determination.

Feel The Pride is an immersive experience that aims to express what Pride feels like with a stunning sound and light display that will take guests on a journey through shared sentiment of what Pride means to them. Either onsite or from around the world using the #FeelThePride hashtag on Twitter, users input their message conveying their personal feelings of Pride from which Microsoft Azure’s Sentiment Analysis tool analyzes the content for sentiment and translates it into a generative sound and light experience. The sounds of St. Vincent and lighting display of color patterns that are presented evolve into a unique presentation for each message based on the underlying sentiment.

The 2019 WorldPride is the first to take place in the Stonewall Uprising’s home of New York City, an event that in 1969 marked a turning point in equality for personal choice of expression which remains a symbol of strength in the LGBTQI+ communities around the world. To commemorate its 50-year anniversary, the non-profit activist spokesgroup The Ally Coalition envisioned an experience that would amplify the passion of this movement, elevating participants with collective hope while grounding them with the connections of community.

The Feel the Pride installation will run from June 15–30, located at 568 Broadway (at Prince St), New York, NY.

San Pedro, CA (March 20, 2019) — Renowned professional skateboarder Chris Cole has partnered with long-time entertainment producer John Reese of SGE and Nitro Circus to deliver a one-of-a-kind festival experience of skateboarding, BMX, motocross and music. On June 22, Gnarlytown will energize the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro, CA, with the perfect blend of action sports, punk rock, rap, and craft-beer tasting. And best of all, this family-friendly event is welcoming for the whole community. Headlining bands currently being announced for the include Rancid, Pennywise, Off!, Madball, and Action Bronson, with tickets available from March 22.

From kick off until the bands take the stage in the evening, Gnarlytown festivalgoers will be entertained by some of the biggest names in action sports alternating between BMX/FMX and skateboarding, all telecast onto the jumbotron to ensure the more committed don’t lose their preferred place at the beer tents or in the sun. Leading the two-wheeled action is Travis Pastrana’s Nitro Circus, famed for their daredevil FMX videos that grew into hit television shows and live touring phenomenon of extreme-sports performances and competitions. The four-wheeled entertainment will be the creative result of a long-time vision of Chris Cole — one of skateboarding’s most recognized and respected veterans — in which a personally invited squad of the sport’s elite will throw down for a day of cash-for-trick excitement.

Cole’s passion for music has always fueled his career in skateboarding, which now both combine to fuel his passion for Gnarlytown. “Creating a festival of this nature is something I’ve been thinking about since my early days skating at similar events; it’s a great experience for the skaters to be around the music, and a great opportunity for the festivalgoers to enjoy something extra,” informs Cole. “And it’s exciting and a real honor to be creating Gnarlytown with partnering co-founders John Reese and Nitro Circus.”

Chris Cole’s Rail Jam Invitational will present a selection of today’s gnarliest skate talent from the list of Cole’s personal favorites, which strongly suggests crowd favorite, heavy hitters such as Tom Asta, Chris Joslin, Sean Malto and Ryan Sheckler. Or, as Cole puts it, “Savages I want to see on the course.” With the skate action continuing in the background throughout the festival as the invitees and assorted guests refine their approach, each official jam event will run unstructured for the skaters to session freely as friends and locals do at a skate spot. Cash prizes are awarded for the most impressive tricks, with the dollar amount increasing for difficulty and personal style to incentivize more gnar for the viewing fans. 

“The idea for the hubba rail has been in my brain for a long time,” he says of the custom-build skate course for the Chris Cole’s Rail Jam Invitational (a “hubba” being a ledge down a set of stairs). Overall the course presents an elongated skate park to facilitate user flow and viewer watchability, with a central level-change centerpiece comprised of stairs, a rail, and the long-envisioned hubba designed as an oversized guitar. Each end of the course will have transitioned quarter pipes to gather and wash speed, with additional bump-to-bar and A-frame obstacles along either side of the centerpiece for additional trick options.

NAO Takes Fans Into “Orbit” With Interactive Music Video Powered By Microsoft AI

Together they are producing a never-before-seen interactive and personal music video to support the “Orbit” track on her new album Saturn released late in 2018.

The “Orbit” music video is centered on a Saturn return, a unique occurrence for each of us that exists when the planet returns to the same place in the sky that it occupied at our moment of birth. The astrological inspiration of the song is known as a personally tumultuous time that allows NAO fans a more intimate connection with the artist and her work. The use of Microsoft’s technology and AI create visualizations based on both user inputs and cloud-point data collected gather from a dancing NAO, taking this fan-artist connection even further for a deeper experience as it relates their own personal journey.

To customize the “Orbit” music video the viewer enters their birthday, initiating a launch of the zodiac-filled night sky in which NAO and the dancers move through the galaxy. Colors of the sky and stars can be adjusted as the AI picks up the different constellations in the dancer’s bodies, as well as the fan’s own astrological sign. At completion, fans can share an image of NAO posing in the stance of their astrological sign, along with a plot of Saturn’s return in their own personal timeline.

The process for the music video began at Microsoft’s volumetric capture studio in San Francisco where cameras captured NAO and an accompanying dancer performing choreography to “Orbit” that transformed their bodies into point clouds of data. The Microsoft Custom Vision API was then trained to identify constellations within their movements, resulting in a truly customized experience that allows fans to connect emotionally with NAO’s own personal story within the song.

Based in East London, NAO’s sound is a mix of soul, funk, R&B and electronic music — what she calls as "wonky funk". Saturn is her second studio album, released in October 2018 and supported by the singles "Another Lifetime" and "Make It Out Alive". The upcoming “Orbit” music video release with Microsoft is scheduled for April 26, with a special in-depth experience as a media preview set for April 25 in London, UK.

The artwork for Muse’s latest studio album is reminiscent of the classic 80’s sci-fi movie Tron, the plot of which loosely aligns with the album title and it’s referenced “simulation hypothesis” that accepts that we’re all actually living within a computer-generated artificial reality. This is also in keeping with the band’s ongoing themes of a futurist technology dominated existence, as well as their visual interpretation that portrays more of a yesteryear’s vision of tomorrow. Complimenting this in contrast, Microsoft has incorporated their technologies to offer an out-of-this-world fan experience for today.

In creating more music videos for Simulation Theory than any previous release, Muse has also created an alternative visual world for the album that establishes a unifying theme for its songs. “The videos are very continuous; that's where the concept can be seen more so than in the music”, informs vocalist/guitarist Matt Bellamy. “So we're going to take that visual world and try to translate it into the live show, with the other performers who will be on stage with us.” The VR games developed with Microsoft take this audience experience far beyond a stunning audio-visual performance, guiding fans deep into the album’s virtual world for a uniquely personal immersion and real connection.

Conceptual artist and activist Mel Chin collaborated with Microsoft to create a site-specific mixed reality experience in NYC's Times Square. Using HoloLens and a custom mobile phone AR app, Unmoored explores a possible future, where climate change has gone unchecked and Times Square is under 26 feet of water.

This year’s event program from the global art-curation platform SeeMe wraps up with a special finale exhibition during Art Basel Miami 2018. Miami, FL (December 6, 2018) — This year’s event program from the global art-curation platform SeeMe wraps up with a special finale exhibition during Art Basel Miami 2018. Between December 6–9, visitors to the international art fair can view the works from more than 200 members of the SeeMe community from which Bogdan Luca was selected as the lucky winner of the event’s grand prize.  

To participate in the upcoming Art Takes Miami exhibition to be held at SCOPE Miami Beach, today’s brilliant and passionate artists were invited to submit their work for the exclusive opportunity to showcase their craft to global buyers, critics and curators visiting Art Basel. From the selection of 200+ displayed works shortlisted from the thousands of entrants, a panel of recognized creative professionals selected the top twelve artists from which Bogdan Luca was selected to receive the grand prize of a $5000 cash grant and a feature on the SeeMe platform through a video spotlight of their creative process.

Bogdan Luca’s works are reminiscent of faint memories from personal observations in both his waking life and dream state; memories blurred by almost somber-like blues and purples, faint as a consequence of staring into electronic screens for too long. Luca compels viewers to gaze beyond the thick haze of ambiguous images and question their own understanding of reality.

Alongside the digital canvas of artworks presented by Blackdove, Lucas’ featured prints and the 12 selected artists will be on display and available for purchase. Supporting this featured installation will be a visual takeover of the Visual Artist Summit at Miami Dome on December 6, a venue famed for its wrap-around imaging shows filling the entire spherical ceiling. With the overhead show fueled by SeeMe’s selection of artists, guests will enjoy the sounds of Marc Kinchen, with special musical guests Leyva and Carabetta & Doons.

About Bogdan Luca:

Born in 1978 in Bucharest Romania, Bogdan showed an early interest in painting and was fortunate to have artistic mentors who helped him develop the focus, skills and curiosity that continue to sustain his artistic practice today. He moved to Canada in 1994 and following the completion of his classical animation training in 2000 Bogdan spent a decade working as an animator, background artist, animation designer, storyboard artist on a multitude of TV and online projects. In 2008 he graduated from the Master of Visual Studies program at the University of Toronto with a body of work that addressed painting in relation to movement, change, looping, repetition and other notions coming from the world of animation. In 2011 he completed a monumental public-art painting project commemorating the war of 1812 on the campus of Brock University in St Catherine’s, Canada. Bogdan has had numerous exhibitions of his work in Canada, Italy, Romania, Germany and the US. He currently teaches in the fine arts department at OCAD University and the Sheridan Institute of Technology.

Alex Nero, Artist — Alex Nero is a Ukraine-born American artist living and working in New York City who uses art as a medium to explore and express his appreciation for the synchronicity of the universe and the beings within it. Nero’s current body of work utilizes experimental techniques with chemistry and physical dynamics of paint within vessels of water, captured by digital photography. Nero’s imagery inspires a dialogue with the subconscious, allowing a unique experience through individual interpretation.  This work has reached millions and can be found in private and corporate collections throughout the world. 

Marc Billings, Black Dove (Founder) — Marc explores his passions for art and technology in building the subscription-based video art platform Blackdove. As CEO he leads Blackdove’s product and market development and a fast-growing team in Miami. His previous successes include data center company Digiport, cloud computing venture Itopia, Incubate Miami, South Florida’s first technology accelerator, and market leading online boat rental community Boatsetter.com. Marc enjoys travelling with his wife and two children, playing tennis, and supporting projects that have a positive social impact on humanity.

Sarah Bronilla, VOCAL (Founder & CEO) — Sarah Bronilla moved to New York in ’99 to launch the now notorious VICE Magazine in the USA. After years of leading all external communications for VICE and once its international fame was established, she left to consult on other marketing initiatives. Now with over ten years as a Public Relations authority, Bronilla’s client roster has ranged from blue chip heavyweights such as Casio, Microsoft and Absolut to fashion brands including Saturdays, Ray Ban, G-Shock and Rad Hourani. Her approach to media communications is both innovative and instinctive. She believes in connecting her clients with circles of influencers and creatives to build and foster strong networks in order to get real and enduring media results.
